KIPTAŞ will consult for five-hundred thousand houses to be built in Iraq

Mr. Sami al-Araji, the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission, made a visit to the mayor Mr. Topbaş in his office and stated that his commission has concluded negotiations with the Turkish firm for 500,000 of the 1,000,000 total housing units to be built in Iraq. He said, “KIPTAŞ (Istanbul Public Housing Corporation) will prepare the projects and inspect them. Hopefully, we will lay the foundation together with mayor Mr. Topbaş in Baghdad soon.

Mr. Sami al-Araji, the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission, made a visit to mayor Mr. Topbaş in his office and stated that his commission has concluded negotiations with the Turkish firm for 500,000 of the 1,000,000 total housing units to be built in Iraq. Mr. Sami al-Araji, the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission; Mr. Istabraq Ibraheem Abdulwahab Al-Shouk, the deputy minister of Public Works and Settlement; and the accompanying delegation visited mayor Mr. Topbaş in his Saraçhane Municipal Office.

After the meeting, mayor Mr. Kadir Topbaş gave an explanation about the meeting where he stated that the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission, the deputy minister of Iraq's Public Works and Settlement, and the accompanying delegation had come to Istanbul for several days. He said, “I would like to thank them for their visiting our municipality. They expressed that they would like to build 500,000 of the 1,000,000 total housing units to be built in Iraq by Turkish contractors. They wanted KIPTAŞ (Istanbul Public Housing Corporation) to provide supervision and consulting services for this project.

Mayor Mr. Kadir Topbaş said that Mr. Sami al-Araji, the chairman of Iraq's National Investment Commission, expressed his fondness towards the housing units built by KIPTAŞ and Turkish businessmen in Istanbul very much. He said, “We said to him that as the Republic of Turkey and more especially as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we would give support for the reconstruction of Iraq. I told him that we are on their side and that we would give them all kinds of support for the realization of these works. Hopefully, we will be witness to the laying down of the foundation of a total of 500,000 housing units in Baghdad.”

Mr. Sami al-Araji explained that 500,000 of the 1,000,000 housing units to be built in Iraq would be built by the Turkish companies of both Arma Group and Çeliker Group. He stated, “I mean,Turkish contracting companies will build 500,000 housing units in Iraq. The project’s preparation and inspection will be performed by KIPTAŞ (Istanbul Public Housing Corporation) – a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Hopefully, we will lay the foundation together with mayor Mr. Topbaş in Baghdad soon. I am delighted to be here in Istanbul and to have an opportunity to closely observe the Turkish companies. I would like to thank mayor Mr. Topbaş for showing us Turkish hospitality at its finest.”
