IMM Prepares for Earthquake Drill

IMM is diligently preparing for a possible earthquake in Istanbul.

IMM and the Turkey Informatics Foundation (TBV) will cooperate on the "Earthquake Hackathon" that will be held from the 13th – 15th of March, 2020 (https://depremhackathonu.ibb.istanbul/).

The Hackathon will focus on developing solutions to overcome communication problems that may occur during and after an earthquake. The hackathon is expected to produce solutions for the communication problems that may arise between victims, their relatives and rescue teams during and after a possible earthquake.

The event will be held at the Zemin Istanbul innovation center in Şişhane, which is owned by IMM. The application deadline for the event, which is limited to 100 people, is February 20, 2020. 15 teams will be selected to participate in the event, and the teams will enter a 48-hour 'development race’. Contestants are expected to produce innovative solutions using new technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and internet of things. 

The hackathon prizes are as follows:

  • 20,000 Turkish Liras will be awarded to the first-place winners
  • 15,000 Turkish Liras will be awarded to the second-place winners
  • 10,000 Turkish Lirass will be awarded to the third-place winners

The winners must have innovative product and service ideas, with a new solution, which has not been discovered before, that has the capacity to be transformed into real projects for the city of Istanbul.
