RUNTOFD Night Run on the Historic Peninsula: “Wake Up and Run!”

The countdown has begun for IMM’s RunTOFD races. Athletes will be running through the streets of Istanbul once again on Saturday, March 28th at 9:00 p.m.

The first stage of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s RunTOFD races in 2020, organized jointly by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and TOFD (Turkish Spinal Cord Injury Association), will be held in the Historic Peninsula of the city on Saturday night, March 28th with the tagline “Wake Up and Run!”.

Runners of all abilities and ages are welcome to take part in the Night Run on the Istanbul Historic Peninsula 8K - 2020, and every participant will receive a premium reflective technical race top to wear that night, along with a goodie bag and a finishing medal if they complete the race.

Registration for the race, which has a quota of 2,500 people, continues at https://www.runtofd.istanbul/

With great scenery, a fantastic atmosphere and a truly memorable experience, it’s no wonder thousands have crossed our start line! This is a race not to be missed!

The event, which will offer participants an opportunity to run on one of the most special courses in Istanbul, will also provide a good training opportunity for those who will participate in the Vodafone Istanbul Half Marathon (21K) to be held later on Sunday, April 5th, 2020.

The course is simple: Starting in front of the Gülhane Park, the runners will run down Kennedy Avenue, turn in front of the Çatladıkapı Marriage Department and then run in the opposite direction to head back to where they started. The athletes will then continue running in the opposite direction, and return to Gülhane Park from Sirkeci Ferry Port to complete the race at the point they started.

Race timing will be handled by the Timing Team of Sports Istanbul, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). Athletes have 60 minutes to complete the 8 km race.

The medals, custom-designed for the race, will be presented to all runners who complete the run. At the end of the race, the participants will be awarded with trophies and other gifts.

Following the Night Run on the Historic Peninsula on March 28th, the second stage of the series will feature a Morning Run in the Kemerburgaz City Forest on Sunday, April 12th with the tagline “Wake Up and Run!”. The event will continue the Night Runs into the Belgrade Forest on Saturday, June 6th, and into the Büyükada-Maltepe stage on Saturday, June 21st, with the tagline “Don’t be late, Run”.

The IMM RunTOFD Series was launched to stimulate a sense of social responsibility in sports fans, and to enable amateur athletes to participate in more sports activities. The series has made a significant contribution to the city’s sports culture so far.
