IMM Sports Club Wins Gold and Bronze Medals in European G4 Extra Taekwondo Championships

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club (İBBSK) athlete İrem Yaman won the gold medal in the 57 kg category at the European G4 Extra Taekwondo Championship in Italy on November 2, and Nafia Kuş won the bronze medal in the 67+ kg category.

Organized by the European Taekwondo Association (WTE) in Bari, Italy, the G4 Extra European Taekwondo Championship bears Olympic ranking points for Tokyo 2020.

Turkish national taekwondo athlete İrem Yaman from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s (IMM) Sports Club (İBBSK) received a free pass to the second round. Yaman defeated her opponent Laurygan Celin from France during the second tour, then defeated Poland's Patrycju Adamkiewicz in the quarterfinal and Raheleh Asamani from Belgium in the semifinals.

In the final, Yaman beat her British opponent Jade Jones -a two-time Olympic champion in 2012 and 2016- 22-9 to bag the gold medal in the Italian city of Bari.

A total of 4 athletes from İBBSK represented Turkey at the competition, and Nafia Kuş won a bronze medal in the 67+ kg category at the European G4 Extra Taekwondo Championships.
