Mayor İmamoğlu’s Election Promise “People’s Milk” Comes to Life

An election promise of Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the “People’s Milk” Project will be launched on October 16 World Food Day.

With the understanding that healthy generations require healthy food, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will commence the distribution of its own “People’s Milk” to provide children with the staple of their diet, free of charge.

The project will be launched in a public event with the attendance of Mayor İmamoğlu. In the initial phase of the project, 750,000 litres of free milk will be dispatched monthly to families in need. The service will be available families on the IMM’s social support scheme, and their children between 3 to 6 years of age. Two litres of UHT milk will be distributed to each child per week.

The People’s Milk will be delivered to families in 1-liter cartons in monthly or two-weekly intervals depending on the number of children. The distribution will be carried out by IMM teams, and over the course of the project, new families in need will be identified and signed up for the service.

For the project, the IMM has signed a contract with Tire Dairy Cooperative, known for its experience and reliability in the dairy sector.
