IMM’s Arts and Culture Events Season Opens with a Renewed Vision

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s 2019-2020 arts and culture events season will kick off with a special night hosted by Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. The night will feature the IMM’s renewed vision, as well as performances inspired by the beauties of Istanbul and Turkey.

IMM’s Cultural and Social Affairs Department will open its new season on the evening of October 5 at the Haliç Congress Center (HCC), with a special night hosted by Mayor İmamoğlu. Renowned names from the arts, media and politics will be at the ceremony.

The event will start at 19:00, and attendants will find traces from famous Turkish composer Cemal Reşit Rey’s Lüküs Hayat (The Luxurious Life) musical – a classic that has been staged 1,237 times, and has earned itself a special place in Turkey.

Upon the instruction of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the IMM is starting the works to transform Istanbul into center of culture, and to revitalize the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, where many events will continue throughout the year. A new vision in which the cultural values and the wealth of Istanbul’s diverse arts will carry the past onto the future by using a universal language.

At the opening ceremony, the IMM City Orchestra will perform a selection of musical compositions by various artists from different cultures, and the IMM City Theatres will thrill audiences with spectacular performances.

The season opening ceremony will reflect Istanbul’s changing vision, and give insights into its future. Modern dance and jazz performances, and AI-generated video displays will contain clues about the future of arts and culture in the city.
