24-hour transport will begin in Istanbul starting from the night of August 30, Victory Day. The news was announced on Thursday by Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu who referred to Istanbul as “a city that lives 24 hours a day.'' With the new scheme, Istanbul will be one of eight cities offering 24-hour subway service in the world.

The six busiest metro lines in the city will now be in operation for 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as public and religious holidays.

Drawing attention to the vital need for 24-hour transport in Istanbul, Mayor Imamoğlu said: “This city lives 24 hours a day. We know well that there are many people who work late at night. We also know how hectic the city gets during night time.”

The all-night metro lines that will run for 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays are as follows:

M1B Yenikapı-Kirazlı

Out of the 24 İETT bus lines that will run at night, 8 will be integrated with the metro and the Metrobus, providing an important route between the two coasts of the city. Through the scheme, numerous densely populated districts located between Tuzla and Büyükçekmece will benefit from the public transport service during the night time.

The 8 lines that will be integrated with the metro are as follows:
