Only "16 Million'' Difference Between Mayor's Two Visits

Mayor İmamoğlu revisited Anıtkabir and wrote in the official memorial book. Imamoglu used the same words except adding "I, with mayors and councilors beside me, respectfully bow in front of your cherished memory, with 16 million patriotic Istanbulites who have made me rewrite these lines. Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation."

"Today, in your spiritual presence, in the 100th year of the Kuvay-I Milliye spirit, which you started in 1919, I promise to serve with reason and science without compromising all the historical background and spirituality of Istanbul, the most beautiful city of our heavenly homeland, as we are a free-minded and free-willed generation of 21. century with the same spirit. Kindest regards. Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the Nation," had written Ekrem İmamoğlu in the special memorial book in his visit to Anıtkabir on April 2.

In his second visit he paid on July 12, Imamoglu added the following sentence to the same text: "Today, before your spiritual presence, in the 100th year of the Kuvay-I Milliye spirit you started in 1919, I promise to serve with reason and science without compromising all the historical background and spirituality of Istanbul, the most beautiful city of our heavenly homeland, as we are a free-minded and free-willed generation of 21. century with the same spirit. Kindest regards. Sovereignty belongs to the Nation unconditionally."
