Istanbul Gets Ready to Celebrate 566th Anniversary of Its Conquest

The 566th year anniversary of Istanbul's conquest will be celebrated with enthusiasm on 29th of May, 2019 in Istanbul. During the celebration, a 3D film about the conquest will be screened on a giant TV. An Ottoman janissary band, will play conquest songs for this anniversary.

The 566th year anniversary of Istanbul's conquest will be celebrated with enthusiasm on 29th of May, 2019 in Istanbul. During the celebration, a 3D film about the conquest will be screened on a giant TV. An Ottoman janissary band, will play conquest songs for this anniversary.

Turkey's largest stage has been constructed for the event which will also have a 4,500 square meters LED screen installed to display the stage for the people in the arena.

The ceremony will be held on a giant 3D mapping stage built in the form of a castle at the Maltepe coast on the Anatolian side of Istanbul.

Nine giant screens were also established to ensure the performances can be viewed comfortably by the crowd.

Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II conquered Istanbul on May 29, 1453, then called Constantinople, from where the Byzantines had ruled the Eastern Roman Empire for more than a 1,000 years. The conquest transformed the city, once the heart of the Byzantine realm, into the capital of the new Ottoman Empire.
