Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya Appointed as Acting Mayor

As of today, Ali Yerlikaya, the Governor of Istanbul was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The Ministry of Interior of Turkey has appointed Governor of İstanbul Ali Yerlikaya as the Deputy-Mayor of the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality after the Supreme Election Council (YSK) canceled İstanbul local elections on May 7th, 2019. 

Turkey's Supreme Election Council (YSK) has ruled for a re-run of local elections in Istanbul at the meeting held on 06 May 2019.

On his arrival at the Municipality Building where he was welcomed by Mr. Hayri Baraçlı, the Secretary-General of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Mr. Mehmet Tevfik Göksu, Group Deputy Chairman of AK Party Municipal Assembly and other executives.

Istanbul's Governor Ali Yerlikaya will serve as the acting mayor of the city until the Istanbul local elections to be held on June 23, 2019.
