The first stage of the Kabataş Square and Transfer Center Project was put into service

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has completed and put into service the first phase of Kabatas Square and Transfer Center Project today. The passenger ferryboats of the IMM City Lines Inc. started sailing regularly to the Princes Islands (Adalar) and Bosphorus line from the Kabatas Square and Transfer Center.

The first phase of the Kabatas Square and Transfer Center Project, which was started in July of 2016, was put into service this morning.

The first sailing on the Kabataş-Prince Island line was carried out via ferries of City Lines Inc. at 6:35 am. The White Desk staff of IMM Public Relations Directorate welcomed the passengers at the new Kabataş Pier with carnations. 

The second phase will be put into service on part of Adalar line, on weekdays and Saturdays for the first time on the 6: 35, on Sundays and Holidays. The last period of the day, which continued at certain intervals during the day, was determined as 7:15 a.m. and 22:45 p.m will also be added to the Prince Islands line between 1 and 7 April.

Kabatas – Bosphorus ferry services are available every 10-20 minutes from 06: 40 a.m. to 08:30 a.m. in the morning and from 18:10 p.m. to 19:55 p.m in the evening hours. 

On the other hand, DENTUR and TURYOL seabus and fast-ferry services, which have started to Üsküdar and Kadıköy services from Kabataş, continue their operation under the supervision of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

In the Kabataş Square and Transfer Center project, the design of the terminal building ”Seagull“ was canceled. Instead of the classic arı Ottoman terminal structure, terminal buildings will be built. The second stage of the project will be built 32 thousand 500 square meters of square feet 18 400 square meter hard floor, 14 bin 142 green area will be.

In front of the piers on the square will be built 3 pieces terminal building. Under the square, there will be 700 cars, 26 disabled vehicles, and 95 bus underground parking lot with 2 floors. Parking lot 1. floor several shopping center, 2. There will also be a small bazaar to be built.

When the terminal buildings and the piers are completed, ferries, BUDO (Bursa Deniz Otobüsleri) and İDO (İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri) will be able to operate fast catamaran passenger ferries across the Sea of Marmara between Istanbul's Kabataş docks and Bursa in about 2 hours. In addition, Bosphorus cruises depart from Beşiktaş, Üsküdar and Avcılar etc. will be able to visit the Kabataş pier.

When the project is completed, Kabatas Square will be a very important transfer center where public transportation systems such as sea vehicles, subway, funicular, tram, bus will be integrated and parking lot is to be located. Kabatas Transfer Center will have a daily passenger capacity of 240,000.

Passengers getting off the ferry will reach the car park with 1-floor down from the square and can also reach the 2nd floor of the car park getting down to the second floor via the Funicular and Metro stations. They will be able to get on the tram directly from the square. The second phase of the project is planned to be completed in October 2020.
