IMM Sports Club Earned 864 Medals in 2018

The athletes of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, which is taking a leading part of Turkish sports continued to collect medals for Turkey in the international arena in 2018.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, a sports club that has sent the most athletes to national teams in amateur branches, has achieved an important success by earning 864 medals in total with 396 gold, 244 silver and 224 bronze medals in 2018.

The IMM athletes have been competing in Wrestling, Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Athletics, Wushu, Badminton, Arm Wrestling, Tennis, Table Tennis, Archery, Ice Hockey, athletes with physical disabilities, private athletes, weightlifting, ice skating, and swimming categories. 

Main international achievements of the IMM Sports Club in 2019 were as follows:

Metehan Başar in Wrestling won the Greek World Champion of Greco-Roman in Hungary, while Cengiz Arslan won the Greek-U23 World Championship in Romania. Irem Yaman, Nafia Bird, and Rukiye Yildirim became the European Champion in Taekwondo.

Serap Özçelik won the 2nd place in the World Karate Championship held in Spain, while Ali Sofuoğlu, Uğur Aktaş, and Alparslan Yamanoğlu won the 3rd place in the world. Kumite Team of the IMM SK won the World Championship.

Serap Özçelik and Burak have won the European Championship in Serbia. Kumite Team became European Champion in the same tournament.

Vedat Albayrak won the 3rd place in Seniors World in the Judo branch, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Büşra Katipoğlu was second in the Mediterranean Games in Spain. Daniyar İsmailov in the weightlifting and Neslihan Yiğit in Badminton became the champions of the Mediterranean Games.

Yeşim Bostan came in second in the Compound Women's Category in the 2018 European Archery Indoor Championships held in Poland. Engin Tailor became the World Champion in Arm Wrestling, while Ümit Burunlular, Gökhan Seven, Zeynep Yilmaz won the World Championship in the Wrestling of Physically Handicapped category.

Beytullah Eroğlu won the bronze medal in a 50-meter butterfly at the European Paralympics Swimming Championship, which was held in Ireland. In Wushu, Hüseyin Kaya won the 3rd place in the European Championship in Russia.
