Mayor Uysal Celebrating All Children on World Children's Day

The mayor of Istanbul Mevlüt Uysal, celebrated World Children’s Rights Day to raise awareness of those rights, and also of the children who are unable to reach those rights, “I wish our children a better future and a better world” he said.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Children's Assembly met with refugee children on World Children's Rights Day and carried out various activities with the children. The Children's Assembly presented various gifts to 100 refugee children.

Speaking at the Municipal Council meeting, he said referring to Children’s Rights in particular: “Today is the World Children's Rights Day. I wish for a world where all children around the world can now live with their natural rights, without being deprived of those rights. So, I congratulate the World Children's Rights Day by thinking that there are duties for us related to children. I wish our children a better future and a better world” he added.

As part of the November 20 World Children's Rights Day, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Children's Assembly held various activities. Firstly, the members of the IMM Children's Assembly visited the project exhibition of Istanbul's Children Nature and City Harmonization organized by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) at Ümraniye Municipality Culture and Art Exhibition Hall.

Later, the members of IMM Children's Assembly took part in the workshop on Children's Rights organized by the Solidarity Association for Refugees and Expatriate in Sultanbeyli district of Istanbul and they met with Syrian refugee children in Turkey.

Kıymaz: “We want a world where all children —girls and boys—are happy”

Dilara Kıymaz, the head of the IMM Children's Assembly said, “Although our color is different, even though we don't speak the same language, the place where we were born and the cultures we grew up were different, when we come side by side with each other, we can understand each other. Our expectation from all country leaders is to build a healthy future for children and leave a world where all children can be happy in the future."

After the program ended, the members of IMM Children's Assembly presented various gifts to 100 Syrian children who’ve fled from their country and took refuge in Turkey.
