President Erdoğan Congratulates Liberation Day of Istanbul

H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey congratulated the people of Istanbul on the 95th anniversary of the liberation of Istanbul from enemy occupation by sending a congratulatory message to Mayor Mevlüt Uysal. “I convey my congratulations to our citizens on the anniversary of the liberation of our city Istanbul from the enemy occupation” he said.

In his congratulatory message, President Erdoğan said: “I extend my congratulations to my fellow-citizens on the anniversary of the liberation of Istanbul from enemy invasion. The struggle for independence has resulted in victory with the unprecedented sacrifices of all our martyrs and veterans, who preferred homeland to their own lives and took their place in history with their heroism and with the determination of our fellow-citizens to protect the independence and freedom. With such a blessed understanding, we continue to work with great determination to protect our Republic with its achievements, which was founded on the legacy of our ancient civilization, to sustain it, to keep it alive, bringing it above the level of contemporary civilizations and to strengthen it with new successes. With this belief, I remember and give thanks to all of our heroes of independence war with respect and honor in every way possible. I once again congratulate this proud day of Istanbul and wholeheartedly greet all of my fellow-citizens” he said.

On the other hand, Mevlüt Uysal, the mayor of Istanbul celebrated the anniversary of liberation day of Istanbul on social media with the following message: "On the 95th anniversary of the liberation of Istanbul from enemy invasion, I remember all of the independence heroes, especially Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who made this beautiful city a new Turkish land again” he said.
