Mayor Uysal: “Our goal is to reach with a length of 1000 Km Metro Line until 2023”

Istanbul Mayor Mr. Mevlut Uysal participated in the opening of the intersection of the subway station tunnel and the construction channel of the Dudullu - Bostanci Metro Line, which will connect 5 districts and 4 different metro lines of the city.

Mr. Mayor Mevlut Uysal, the mayor of Istanbul; Mr. Hasan Turan, a ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Istanbul deputy; Mr. Osman Boyraz, AK) Party Istanbul deputy; Mr. Hasan Can, the Mayor of Umraniye district, the contractors of the Metro Line and and the tunnel workers attended the connecting ceremony of the metro line.

Mayor Topbaş stated that the travel time between Dudullu-Bostancı Districts would be reduced to 17 minutes with the line that is one of the North- South ones of Istanbul and connects 5 districts and 4 different metro lines of the city.

Mayor Uysal noted that the excavation works that are continued with 4 Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) are planned to be finished in June, 2018, on the Dudullu-Bostancı Metro Line where 77 percent of the tunnel excavation work has been completed so far.

Istanbul Mayor Mr. Uysal: "There is no cancellation for our subway projects, quite the contrary, there is acceleration."

The Dudullu-Bostancı metro line is expected to be operational by the middle of 2019. The length of the line 14 km long, and will serve 13 different stations in the form of tunnel, surface and surface tunnels.

The Dudullu-Bostancı line runs from south to north with a length of 14km and 13 new underground stations. The line is completely underground with many connections with other main Istanbul transport systems such as the Bosphorus ferry (at Bostanci Harbour), the Marmaray railway, the Kadıköy-Kartal and the Üsküdar-Çekmeköy line, which is under construction. A fully automated metro system will be implemented with driverless trains, CBTC, and platform screen doors at stations. The line underpasses a very complex urban area and features station with particular architectural and functional layout. The tunnel is expected to be excavated by TBM.

The Dudullu-Bostancı line will carry 70,000 passengers on one side every hour, which makes this line distinct in terms of its large capacity and is rapidly operational as it will be a very important project for large a large population.

The train will depart every 90 seconds in the metro line Dudullu-Bostancı and the journey from the beginning of the line to its end will last 21 minutes, and the services will be provided without problems as in the line of Uskudar – Çekmeköy.

After completion of the Dudullu-Bostancı line, the residents of Modoko will be able reach Eminönü 21 minutes and passengers will be able to get from İçerenköy to Taksim within 35 minutes. From Kayışdağı to Kadıköy - 19 minutes, from Bostancı to Parseller neighbouhood - 21 minutes and from Kayışdağı to Bostancı 13 minutes. This project  will also faciliate the arrival of passengers between the two continents via the train network, which will be integrated with it and will ensure acceleration of the passengers arrival within the same continent and between the two continents alike.
