Istanbul Mayor Topbaş Visits Bosnia and Herzegovina…

Kadir Topbaş, the mayor of Istanbul paid a visit to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina for the opening ceremony of the "Istanbul Culture Days".

During his visit in Bosnia Herzegovina, Mayor Topbaş paid a visit to the grave of Alija Izetbegovic, the first President of Bosnia-Herzegovina and honored soldiers fallen in the Bosnian war.

Mayor Topbaş, Sarajevo Mayor Abdullah Skaka and Haldun Koç, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey laid flowers to the graveyards in “Kovači“, and supplicated prayers for the fallen soldiers and Alija Izetbegović.

Istanbul Days in Sarajevo

The Istanbul Culture Days, which is organized as part of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the "sister-city" ties between Istanbul and Sarajevo, begin today. A series of events will take place to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the sister city relationship between Istanbul and Sarajevo.

As part of the celebrations that will continue until August 27, 2017, there will several cultural activities such as a photo exhibition about Istanbul, and music performances. Emel Sayın’s concert will be followed by the musical performances of Hakan Peker, Ziynet Sali, Coşkun Karademir and Neşe Demir in the coming days. Additionally, Mehter (Ottoman Janissary Band) and folkloric dance teams will contribute to the celebrations with their dances and songs.
